this might sound boring..

...but!!! I have been enjoying it. Lately I have been quite standofish about some foods we buy in the stores. Most of it is good, I'm sure but some of the occasional stories have been enough to put me off now and then (depending on how hungry I am at the time)
So I have learned to make home madefresh pasta and now also, home made tomato sauce to preserve in the jars. I'll get onto the more difficult things later maybe.
There is something about eating food that you have made all on your own and know exactly what's in it.
Same goes for growing your own vegetables and eating them knowing that you grew them!

The photo above is not mine, I got it from ebay.

Did you buy it from ebay? Cause if you did, check this out. Tons of free pictures. Oh yeah!

I know what you mean about store bought items. I try to make what I can. Right now I'm attempting bread. So far I've forgotten to feed the yeast, lol. Oops. No worries, it came out okay in the end. I'd love to learn to make pasta, but with out the fancy equipment I imagine it is hard.

Hi butchieboy,
Thanks for the great pictures link, and your visit! I didn't buy the pic I just came accross it on ebay and used it.

Jennifer,
I have been using a pasta cutting machine, it looks hard but it's really easy.
I'll have to attempt bread some day too, maybe you can give me tips. :)

I think it would be pretty cool to have a garden to pull vegetables from, but my concrete deck wouldn't grow them very well and I guess I'll have to stick with HEB for now.

But keep growing and cannin'.

Send some my way!!

I can cook in the toaster and microwave go me

Carmel, that's not boring at all! It is so cool. We've been canning our own home-grown tomatoes for a few years now and, in addition to knowing what is (and is not) in them, they taste SO much better. Keep it up.

Hi Carmel.
Mouth watering photo and description

I like all natural stuff - have to get it from the vet. Just venison and potatos m'aam. That's what I like.

The humans, well they've switched around a bit. The male, who use to eat tons of junk is now doing stuff like you and buying organic and stuff. The female, who used to be like you, is eating junk.

Humans!

Sounds wonderful! My sister used to make homemade pasta and can her own tomatoes as well.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!! YUM!!

My mum makes home-made pasta sauce...IT IS SO GOOD! Seriously, i am spoiled; I can't bear to eat sauce out of a jar from the shops anymore! I can only eat her tomatoe sauce!

Keep up the good work!

2 dollar,
Your concrete deck looks great though!

Phats,
I would love to send some your way.

Art,
I didn't realise so many people were doing this, it tastes so much better.

Deepak,
Glad you like it!

Cal,
Your diet sounds healthy and nice!

David,
We are in spring now, I am wondering what happens to the vegetable garden once it snows, since I haven't lived in that kind of climate, i'm not sure.

ALex,
I agree!!

4HC,
It can be fun, your sister must have had the cooking fever I have!

Antonia,
Same here, my mum has been making it too, which is what got me started.

5:08 PM

we like to make our own stuff too. you get to control what ingredients go into your stuff, and no preservatives.

i just had homemade pizza (even the dough was homemade). my wife also makes peanut butter, a killer danish. I make a variety or BBQ sauces and laundry detergent.

I love australia...

Bestregards...

Growing one's own food and eating it either fresh, canned, or frozen is the best way in more than one way. But it is also a lot of work. I know because I grew up on a farm in which that was done. Of course, I come from a family of eight children.
