Sydney
I got the chance to get away to Sydney earlier this week. The weather was gorgeous, although I wish that I could have been there longer. I spent the whole day there which was great.
So while I had little time I tried to visit as much as I could. I have been to these places before but it was nice to go back.
The Australian Museum was great, I got to pet a snake! This is the 3rd snake now and I don't have a great love for them but it was neat. Although, I would freak out if I saw one out on the loose!
I spent some time at St.Mary's Cathedral it's so beautiful and although being in the heart of the city, it's so peaceful.
I did manage to grab some great food at The Chinta Ria
Then it was time to fly home, I spent the night in Melbourne and now i'm back.
When I got home my cat was no where in sight, I have been missin gher and thought she wasn't comming home, but thankfully she showed up this morning! It's always good to come home after long travel, now I just have to get back into some sort of routine.
Anyway, Here are some photos!

I love music

Jaime Derman's cross
Jaime Derman is a 17 year old student who was banned from wearing her cross necklace to school. There has been a bit of talk about this on the news.
What gets to me about this story is that her school rules are the same school rules my daughter has at her Christian school. The rule is that you can wear no visible jewelry whatsoever! Unless of course it is not visible, so some girls or boys can wear a longer chain so it doesn't show.
I wonder why Jaime Derman does not just wear a longer chain. After all, Jesus does teach us to obey law and rules right? She should be obeying her school rules, and make the necklace less visible. In the picture I saw of her, it almost looked like a choker.
I do know that items of sentimental value are important and so is ones faith, and I do admire her stand for her love of Christ, that is so strong, it's great to see. However, the chain should not be visible over her uniform.

More spring
I wanted to upload another of my spring photos. I'm in love with this season! The flowering plants, the great smell in the air, it's all so good. I love using my camera.
Here are some of my rants and facts
I'll start with wine,
Q: Why is red wine a good anti-oxidant, but not white wine?
A: Because red wine is made using the skin and seeds of the grape and that is where all the goodness is.
(or just eat the grape)
More than 2 glasses of wine per day is bad for you, sorry wine lovers.
Drinking red wine might help you live longer as well. How do we know? Italian scientists fed fish resveratrol and found the little swimmers lived up to 60 percent longer.
As a tea lover I have to include tea!
Tea tasting, is simmilar to wine tasting, visual, smell, taste and touch.
Examining the dry leaves. you can press some dry leaves in your hand. Most fresh teas are a lit springier and do not crumble as much as older teas.
Look for fibres, dust or stalks and note the leaf size.
The last fact is that my cat is cute.
One more thing, today on the Catholic calendar is the feast of
The Queenship of Mary this queenship has some biblical roots too. Happy feast day.

Spring!
Spring is a beautiful time of year, I love it after roughing out the cold winter.

Love language
I have been so impressed by a book called "The five love languages" by Dr.Gary Chapman. You can find out more Here
I totally think he is right when it comes to what makes us feel loved.
Love languages can be learned for couples, families, singles and everyone. I know that when I lack in my love language I get really sad. Mine is words of affirmation, I know it because without it I don't feel liked/loved depending on who isn't using it.
The website also has a quiz you can take which is pretty neat.
I'm like Mark Twain who said “I can live for two months on a good compliment.” here here!
You should really take a look at it, I'm just too impressed!

My random post.
Wow there is so much going on lately, I have just got almost everything organised for my USA visa, I still have a few weeks until I have my interview so everyone keep me in your prayers, even if it's just one quick thought!
August seems to be full of birthdays, 3 of my cousins and my mum seem to have birthdays so close together, so buying presents in august seems to be like a mini Christmas present rush.
Today is the Feast of the Assumption in Australia, I love the Church calendar, it's like a year of family events where we celebrate days to remember one another. Also it's the feast day of St.Maximillian Kolbe on the 14th.
That's all from me today i'm off to check out which book to add to my wishlist.
One lesson that I have learned this month is to keep doing good things even when no one notices anything you do, God sees it.

The Airline Terror Plot
As someone who has travelled to and from the USA as often as twice per year I was startled at the news of the
Airline Terror Plot that was planned by a group of terrorists to simultaneously blow up 10 or so, aircrafts bound for the USA.
I have read stories about so many travellers plans being destroyed because of delays and what not. It's hard not to be mad as hell, but it's easy to thank God and the smart Police and security operators who have stopped what could have been a mass murder in the skies.
I'm glad that most of them were caught and pray that the other 10 (or how many others) be caught too.
I was reading here that this could have been the next "big one" since the attack in New York on September 11th. They way it's worded is true yes but so scary, of what "could have been".
Those of you who said travel prayers for your loved ones that day must have been so grateful that the plot never eventuated.
Would this scare stop you from flying? For me.... no, I am going to fly when I need to.

Alcoholics
It seems that alcohol addiction is booming, or is it just in the media more now after Mel Gibson's episode and now Robin Williams?
Two nights ago I bumped into "S" (i'll just call him S) who I had not spoken to for around a year now, he proceeded to talk to me about his "AA" meetings. I was really shocked that someone his age (21yo) could have fallen into this. Unfortunately you never recover, but must strive to keep the addiction under control. So i'm saddened by his news, but know some one who has kept it under control for years, so with willpower and some prayer i'm sure he will get through it.
Alcohol seems to be such a huge problem. By no means am I saying that drinking is wrong, I have the occaisional drink too, but know when to stop and don't crave a drink. So when does it become a problem? How much is too much? I have no idea.

Mother Teresa quotes
Mother Teresa is one of my favorites and always will be. I found her to be compassionate and loving among many many other things. Someone who can love a stranger the way she did is just amazing. Here are some wonderful things she spoke about:
