Stormy weather

Last night we went though a huge storm for our town. The lightning was beautiful, it lit up the whole sky with a beautiful purple!
I was at my mothers house and went upstairs to watch it. Even something so dangerous is just gorgeous, it was like a skylight show, and of course it's one of the many nature shows provided by God.
I often think about how God created the world so beautifully, we get used to it and can forget how pretty it truly is. There are so many changing colors in the sky alone, from light blue, dark blue to crimson, orange and more, then we get the shiny glittering stars at night, not to forget the changing shape of the moon.
Flowers of all types, scents and colors, trees also change their beauty from winter through to summer and provide us with shade and fresh air.
It's nice to stop and think of how beautiful our world was created.
Although last night during the storm we lost electricity and the house shook!!! But all is ok and I get the day off work :-)

Ordinary time

After the Christmas feast, the sound of ordinary time in the Church year can almost sound boring.
But of course it's not. I have looked through a Church calendar that my
fiance gave me and it's full of special days.
The feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes, which is on february 11th is comming up and Saint Agnes feast day has just gone by.
But most importantly God is there with us, through all the time, ordinary, penitential times, and feast times, bringing new things into our lives and speaking to us in different ways, guiding us and listening to our prayers.
Have a great sunday, now I better stop blogging and get to bed :-)

Let us pray

My dearest children
Holy Innocents
May God's blessing be with you all
and help you to grow in prayer
the closer you come to Jesus and Mary
and the closer you get
The more you grow in that love
for Jesus and Mary,
Let us pray
God Bless You, Mother Teresa M.C.

Give free food

By visiting thehungersite.com you can help feed a hungry person, without any cost to you, how easy is that!!

When you click the "Give free food" button (once a day per person) at http://www.the hungersite.com this simple action gives one cup of fortified food to a hungry person, and again, it costs you nothing. Funding is paid by the site sponsors, and food is distributed by 2 leading non profit hunger relief organizations, Mercy corp and America's second harvest.

I thought it was a neat idea and so easy, once click per day is hardly an effort and gives so much

The immigration thing

Most of my readers know already that I am engaged. Since I live in Australia and my fiance in the U.S we have all that immigration stuff to do. I would like to ask for your prayers and any tips you may have, since it's such a complicated thing to do.
Thank you :)

Prayer for the gift of knowledge

Every now and then a prayer that I read really stands out to me, depending what I need to pray for at the time. Here is one that I found and want to share on my blog, it's a prayer for the gift of knowledge.

Absolute and all knowing God
Nothing is hidden from Your sight
In the prescience since the beginning
All knowledge existed within You
Kindly share Your knowledge with me
Making me aware of what is meant to be
Permitting my soul to understand it
And wisdom to agree with it's outcome
Provide me with the gift of discretion
To prudently apply recieved knowledge
To ensure the fulfillment of Your will
Your knowledge shines forth forever!!
Amen

Love & Family

This is a book that I would like for my future family. It's difficult to always know what to do and we don't always have answers. If I don't have the answers I like to go out and seek them.
The book is called Love & Family, and I found it on this webiste
here for anyone who is interested in books of this nature. :-)

Narnia

I remember watching "The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe" on the ABC when I was about 10 years old. I loved it. I know that there are a whole lot of C.S. Lewis fans out there. I cannot wait to see the new movie.

Test yourself

I found this Brain Usage test very interesting I found it from fructus ventris
I love doing little quizes and tests I think they are interesting, if you want to take the test yourself click HERE
I also thought that I would display my results just for fun

Your Brain Usage Profile:

Auditory : 60%
Visual : 40%
Left : 47%
Right : 52%

No matter which side of your brain is dominant,
M i n d W a r e
can strengthen your emotional brain power by helping you understand how
you feel about yourself.

Carmel, your hemispheric dominance is equally divided between left and right brain, while you show a moderate preference for auditory versus visual learning, signs of a balanced and flexible person.

Your balance gives you the enviable capacity to be verbal and literate while retaining a certain "flair" and individuality. You are logical and compliant but only to a degree. You are organized without being compulsive, goal-directed without being driven, and a "thinking" individual without being excessively so.

The one problem you might have is that your learning might not be as efficient as you would like. At times you will work from the specific to the general, while at other times you'll work from the general to the specific. Sometimes you will be logical in your approach while at other times random. Since you cannot always control the choice, you may experience frustrations not normally felt by persons with a more defined and directed learning style.

You may also minimally experience conflicts associated with auditory processing. You will be systematic and sequential in your processing of information, you will most often focus on a single dimension of the problem or material, and you will be more reflective, i.e., "taking the data in" as opposed to "devouring" it.

Overall, you should feel content with your life and yourself. You are, perhaps, a little too critical of yourself - and of others - while maintaining an "openness" which is redeeming. Indecisiveness is a problem and your creativity is not in keeping with your potential. Being a pragmatist, you downplay this aspect of yourself and focus on the more immediate, the more obvious and the more functional.

A sad story

I just finished reading a story about a girl who did some work experience at an abortion clinic. I could barely believe what I was reading. It was totally shocking and so sad. I think everyone should read it.
This girl talks about what she saw and things she assisted with. I want to add one thing she wrote, so if you are sensitive don't read on. So here it is:
"it's impressive how well-defined they are. You can't believe what you are seeing. You see perfect little hands, tinier than those of a barbie doll. You can see intestines, tiny ribs, their little faces....."
Anyway, I don't want to type in detail everything she said, because it's a very sad situation. But people need to know this. If you want to read more, and I think because this is such a common reality, you should click
HERE after you read it, remind yourself, this happens today and now, everyday, women of all ages are doing this, it's too common and it's dressed up to look ok in all sorts of ways. But to think of it as ok is like being blind, this is reality and it happens now. These are babies and this girl saw hands, feet, faces.
I hope more people come to the realization that abortion is so wrong. I never thought of it much before, but now that I know the reality of it, I can't deny that it's wrong and something needs to be done, of course I can't do much but write my feelings and hope that who comes across stories about abortion, will think hard and realize that these small things that get thrown in the garbage are not blood and skin, but hands, feet, arms and human beings with hearts that once were beating.
I don't judge the women who get these done, in fact, I try not to judge anyone, because Jesus said our sins are all the same, so yes I realize this. I am accepting of all kinds of people, but I want to make a point of what we need to open our eyes and see here.

Foreign troups given deadline (indonesia)

I found this news story to be interesting and rather surprising:

INDONESIAN Vice president Jusuf Kalla yesterday called on foreign military forces to leave Aceh by march 26 or even earlier if emergency relief work was under control.
"Three months is enough, in fact, the sooner the better" Mr.Kalla said....

Power in prayer

I know from my experiences and just my faith altogether that prayer is such a powerful tool in our lives. Speaking to God helps build our relationship with him. I pray for anything I feel like, and if it's God's will, I know it will be answered and if not then I know that God has different plans for me and for those for whom I pray.
This morning I heard about the fires in South Australia, it seems every summer there is some terrible blazing inferno story coming from there.
It seems that 8 victims were burned in their cars.
As I was reading on national nine news, it said that the fire burned 5 houses, 2 cabins, 3 sheds, 1 shop, 3 vans, 2 cars, 14 caravans, 2 buses, and 4 boats.
Let's offer up prayers for these disasters.
Also for anyone who comes across this page, my fiance's dad isn't feeling well, he went to hospital and may come home today, which will be great, but of course prayer in time of any need is as I said before, very powerful, please keep his speedy recovery in your prayers.
God listens and understands all our needs.

Home again

After a long flight I'm home and back in OZ. It was hard saying goodbye to my fiance. It always is hard, but this time was harder and so much sadder because we are now engaged and can't be together at the moment.
It's so weird leaving freezing cold winter and getting back into very hot summer!! But the body adjusts.
It's hard to believe that Christmas tide is over and we are in ordinary time, it went so fast, my decorations have been taken down by my sister so I don't have to go through that at least and I can start my ordinary time prayers. My fiance bought me the liturgy of the hours book and I am enjoying it and making good use of it, I recommend it, now that I have got into the routine of using it there is no going back!!! I must admit, now I have to pray without Jonathan :-(
For anyone out there in long distance relationships, from experience I say prayer is the key for patience, Maria has written a great blog about this and other ways of making the most of it, because it is worth it. Ok back to unpacking!!!! Enjoy your ordinary time!

helping together

It was so sad to see the terrible Tsunami disaster, the destruction was shocking. It is good to see though, all the help from charities, countries etc going out. Despite all the bad going on around us, it's very encouraging to see governments helping too, money being donated, food and all kinds of aid. Lets pray that all the help needed will get there, and that people who have something to give, feel called to give.
